Kate
Following on from the recent image of "Pete"which I posted. This is the picture that I created once again in pencil and then painted in Photoshop. Being my Sister she was worried that I would do something horrible! I think she was concerned about her nose, I don't think I would dare do anything horrible to a family member's picture! Especially when I presented it to her in a nice frame!
Incidentally this is the official version with a sneaky pic having been already posted by Kate on facebook on the day of her Birthday! She attends a " keep fit " group that regularly hold weekends in London and other venues, an excuse to let their hair down after excercising, (judging by pictures posted on facebook)!

Pete
I have been busy over the last few days working on caricatures for my Mum, Uncle and Sister!!!
This is one that I did for my Uncle's Birthday the other day. He is a massive Luton Town fan as well as Man-U and surprisingly CORRIE!!?? I wasn't going for an authentic look with the background, just a flavour!

Mum
The latest piece that I created for my Mum's Birthday! I once again painted it in Photoshop on my tablet.

Pencil Drawing
Following a previous effort produced by not using a reference I thought I would try one with!
So here is a pencil study of Amy from Doctor Who. The paper used was printer paper and not that great quality! I need to practice my shading techniques though but for the purpose of this picture it turned out not too bad.

Birgit & Furry Family ( All Our Kid's Have Paws! )
I wanted a more cartoon-like feel and so I have left a blank background as I think it would have maybe
detracted from the main images.
Created in the normal way by drawing out in pencil and then scanning onto the computer, and painting in Photoshop using my tablet. I did have photo references but I wasn't looking for an exact likeness of the pets in particular just a loose representation.
I printed it onto photographic paper and framed it and gave it as a Birthday present which we will hang later.

Self Portrait Attempt!
It was suggested to me that maybe I should produce a picture of myself as a caricature..........so here it is!!!!

George's 70th!
I've been busy over the last weeks mainly through Birthdays! With this means more creative ideas and as such more opportunity to produce more art!
So I set about drawing my Father-In-Law in away as not to offend yet also to show along
with his own physical characteristics, also his interests. Yes he did like it but he said I'd been generous with the size of his carrots they weren't that well grown!

Dad's 67th Birthday!
I thought that as a gift and a chance to also get some more practice creating caricatures ( all be it kind ones, I know what side my bread's buttered! lol! ) Using a pencil sketch, painting and tweaking in Photoshop and popping into a frame. I was quite pleased with the result made even more so by the reaction when I gave it to him wrapped on his Birthday! He was born and lived in the East-End and as such is a massive West Ham supporter and is the reason that I too also support them! So what better way of representing him than in the "Claret and Blue" of his beloved team along with the bubbles from the anthem sung home and away by the fans - " I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles". ( Incidentally he is in the current home kit along with the number of his age on his shorts!)

More Ideas For Business Brief
The two previous efforts that I produced although looked fine, they weren't suitable for the client. Which is okay as I had completely free reign at the beginning of the process, however having now spoken to them and decided upon the theme and it's use I have now come up with these versions. The blue one goes with the website colours btw. It is my favourite one and the clients too!

Possible Designs For Business
It has been a while since my last post and I have been quite busy working away on a character ident for a small but none the less quite busy shop. Selling everything Radio Controlled from cars to planes to helicopters and everything that a serious RC mad person would need to get started and keep their vehicle running.
The final idea hasn't been properly been passed yet but I have so far one idea but 2 versions of a theme, I couldn't resist sneaking them on my blog! I know which one I would choose btw! Produced in pencil and ink then using the magic of Photoshop. I was quite pleased with how the images came together.
Incidentally the Alien character is holding a Radio Controller and not a hairdryer! But you knew that anyway!

Herve - Together
This is a rather clever and totally surreal video for the song. It reminds me of Art of Noise's videos and the brilliant yet simple animations of Terry Gillian on Monty Python's Flying Circus. In that objects, people, animals are all animated from still images or composited over live footage. I happened to notice the video when it was shown during a VJ set on Saturday night ( I think that's short for Video Jockey? ) I thought I'd share it....... enjoy!

Colin's 40th
As a special surprise gift for my Brother-In-Law's 40th Birthday, I had an idea to get the old pencil out and draw a caricature of him. Now Colin, by trade runs a successful business making celebration cakes and selling delicious Belgian chocolates and other delectable indulgent treats.
So the natural way to produce the picture was to find a photograph, draw out an image and then using Photoshop paint it.
I was quite pleased with the result and judging by the reaction from him and everyone in attendance on Saturday evening were as well!
This could the first of many fingers crossed!

Bentley In The Snow 2
The previous attempt however I think he appeared too short and if you've met our boy you would not think that was the case! Bless him.

New Year - New Perspectives.
So that was 2011! Wow blink and you'd have missed it! Highlight of the year graduating from University with a degree in Animation! Low point is not being able to gain employment in the field or any field at the moment!
Resolutions I don't tend to make them. On this occasion though, I would like to read more books and gain more knowledge, work on my 3D modelling, Photoshop techniques and general drawing skills. I'd like to travel also, Win the lottery the usual hopes and dreams!
I feel that this year is going to be a feast of film with the likes of; Dark Knight Rises, Avengers, Expendables 2, The Hobbit among others!
My aim is to get a job using my talent within the Animation Industry and who knows whether it be in VFX or animation you may be seeing my name on the credits of films such as these one day!!??
Below is an article about the New Year celebrations from London. I must say that I was impressed by the display and the mix of music synced with the fireworks, was a bold move that seemed to pay off. Apparently the fireworks cost around £2 Million!! So they had to be good to justify that kind of money, especially when money is so tight with the majority of the population! Still what's a couple of million when the Olympics is looming large and the money spent on that is hundreds of millions!!??
